Welcome to our very first newsletter! Here you will find quarterly (ish) seasonal musings on nature, updates on the flowers we are growing and our latest offerings. We hope you find value and inspiration here and welcome your thoughts and feedback. Nature and the beauty of seasonal flowers.. Flowers and nature ~ medicine for the soul. We have come to understand this on a deeper level since being lucky enough to work in nature every day, growing the flowers for all your special moments. Just as we need food to sustain us, a daily dose of nature, as has been proven many times over, is vital for our health and well-being - a cliche it may be but it really is food for the soul. Nature is all around us - from the tiniest detail: a wildflower pushing up through a crack in the pavement - to the greatest, immersive expanse in say, visiting a woodland or being by the sea and everything in between. All offer us moments of connection; to pause, notice and replenish, in amongst our busy day-to-day lives. A vase filled with freshly picked flowers from the garden is a simple, beautiful way to bring nature into our homes and create an oasis of calm. Just like us, seasonal flowers have their own unique cycle of growth. From seed to bloom, they take their sweet time, in tune with mother nature’s rhythm, which is a little different each year - an adjustment we must expect more of, with the realities of climate change. The ebb and flow of energy; sun/rain/earth nourishment (..oh so much rain right now!) will decide when the moment is right for the flowers to bloom in all their glory before fading and composting back into the earth, nourishing the soil and making way for the next flowers of the season. A reflection of the ever changing, rich tapestry of life.. Field notes. The dahlias have arrived! And oh, how we love dahlia season. Each year there are new variety to discover and add to the ever-expanding wish list.. Karma Chocolate has to be one of my top favourites growing at the field right now. Rich, velvety chocolate-coloured petals and, can you believe, a subtle scent of cocoa! Nature is incredible.. With a wedding coming up in the next couple of weeks, we are busy tending to our flowers with weekly organic feeds and whispering sweetly to them in the hope they will bloom in an orchestra of perfect timing. We are fortunate to have great wholesale growers here in Cornwall who can supplement our flowers if needed. I think all of us British flower growers have gone from doing rain dances last month to sun dances this month! It seems to swing from one extreme to the other at the moment and is keeping us on our toes! Alongside tending to this year’s flower crop, we are busy organising our seeds for the 2024 growing season. Now is a great time to get in touch if you are planning your wedding for next year.
